10 year old influencer helps dad overcome sexual abuse trauma
A 10 year old influencer with 800k Instagram followers is using his platform to raise awareness for sexually abused children after hearing about his father’s shocking experience.
A staggering 1 in 6 men have been sexually abused or assaulted – and their experiences may be going overlooked.
Will Lisil is one of those men – and his story is a particularly harrowing one, having sustained his abuse in the favelas of Brazil, where he explains that drug dealers often “sell babies in a disturbing international market”.
“I was 5 when I was sexually abused – it was happening while my parents were at work. The abusers said if I told anybody about what happened they would kill me and my family. So I told nobody until I could move away from that place.”
In the wake of his abuse, Will began to experience a myriad of mental health problems relating to trauma.
“I completely lost myself. I wasn’t doing anything about my trauma and it manifested itself as borderline personality disorder and dissociative identity disorder- it made my life a living nightmare”.
But Will found solace in his son, Tik Tok star and social media influencer Kevin Keew, who found international fame through his music.
“Kevin was learning about sex in school and I felt it was the right time to tell him. It didn’t make sense in his head, he was shocked that this could be happening to children. He wanted to do everything he could to stop this from happening to other children”.
Kevin currently uses his online platform to raise awareness for and support the victims of childhood sexual abuse – even starting his own TikTok ‘Br-Pop challenge’ under the hashtag #SaveBoysLives – and his father couldn’t be more proud.
“Children don’t read articles about this sort of thing. Kevin has found a voice through his art and is using his voice to bring awareness to this topic. Speaking from one kid to another”.
Will and Kevin currently run a business together, MW3.biz, where they help independent artists all over the world bring more eyes to their art and get their careers off to a running start.
