The Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Flower Show Cardiff will celebrate its 15th anniversary from 17-19 April 2020. Her are 15 reasons why you should visit

  • Celebrate RHS Cardiff’s 15th anniversary

The first major flower show of the season is celebrating its 15th anniversary having first opened its doors in 2005. Join the RHS in celebration and kick-start the spring in style in the heart of the Welsh capital.

  • Enjoy family fun activities

Visitors can keep busy this Easter with a whole host of activities throughout the show ranging from willow weaving and beeswax candle making to foraging workshops with and seed sowing workshops.

  • Learn about the Great Outdoors

Brand new to the show in 2020, the Great Outdoors area has been introduced to RHS Cardiff to delight and encourage visitors to get in touch with nature and to spend more time out in the open. Activities and educational materials will inform and inspire.

  • Be dazzled by the Floral Marquee

For the first time at RHS Cardiff, one spectacular, large Floral Marquee will feature instead of two smaller tents. Over 40 of the UK’s finest nurseries will astound visitors with their blooms, including a special display from Pheasant Acre Plants who have been named Master Grower in 2020.

  • Marvel at the Floristry Tent

Hot on the success of last year, the Floristry Tent will be returning to the show with a packed line-up of live demonstrations from experts alongside gorgeous displays from local florists and flower arrangers and a floristry competition.

 

  • Discover the Secret Garden

Popular South Glamorgan based designer Anthea Guthrie returns to the show with a garden inspired by the much-loved novel The Secret Garden to mark the release of STUDIOCANAL’s film adaptation of the children’s classic this April.

Families will also have the opportunity to discover the magic of gardening with The Secret Garden-themed workshops including flower crowns and face painting and a range of activities hosted by The Secret Adventurers Club.

  • Check out some wonderful wheelbarrows

‘Celebration’ is this year’s theme for the popular Wheelbarrow Competition supported by Pughs Garden Village. Local schools will design their own wheelbarrow, using their creativity and garden know-how to wow show-goers.

  • Browse shopping stands

Shop until you drop with offerings from more than 60 retailers, each offering something different. Visitors can browse for innovative garden products, thoughtful gifts, and local artisan foods.

  • Have your mind blown in the Discovery Marquee

The place to be for curious minds; the Discovery Marquee is brimming with interactive and educational exhibits featuring: Museum of Wales, National Vegetable Society, Garden Beehives Ltd, Japanese Garden Society, Welsh Water, and the Society of Garden Designers.

  • Explore the Plant Village

Stepping out into the sunshine, visitors can shop for plants in a market-style area outside at the show. Exhibits include edibles from The Culinary Herb Company and Kitchen Garden Plant Centre as well as living art from The Willow Wand Ltd.

  • Garden inspiration

Visitors will be spoiled for choice with garden inspiration from shopping stands, plant nurseries, feature gardens, talks, and demonstrations. The show will be full of take-home ideas and helpful products.

  • Learn from the experts at the Potting Bench

Located next to the Discovery Marquee, this is the place to go for informal and educational talks and demos from a host of plant and garden experts. Speakers include Botanical Garden of Wales, Stephanie Haffery on No Dig, Michelle Fitzsimmons on edible landscaping, and Museum of Wales.

  • Get the very best plant advice

The show will be bursting with experienced plant specialists and RHS Advisory experts happy to help you with advice on any plants you’re interested in or having trouble with at home.

  • Find something special at the Farmer’s Market

Take home some delicious treats with award-winning food from local producers. Visitors can browse the stalls and try plenty of tasty things.

  • Save the planet with wildlife gardening

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and The Giving Nature a Home Partnership (RSPB; Cardiff County Council; Buglife) are bringing Gardens to the show based around key environmental issues. Both gardens are designed to educate and inspire visitors with practical ideas to bring home.
