5 Things We Know About THE KRAYS 2 – MARKED FOR DEATH
As anticipation builds for the sequel to this year’s biggest British indie film The Krays Dead Man Walking, we run down what we know so far about the next instalment, which starts shooting soon.
- The core cast are coming back. Marc Pickering (Reggie Kray), NathanJohn Carter (Ronnie Kray), Charlie Woodward (Teddy), Chris Ellison (Albert), Triana Terry (Frances), Janine Nerissa (Val) and Steve Wraith (Hartnell) have all confirmed their return on social media.
- There’s a new writer. Essex boy Chris Jolley, the scribe behind a slew of micro budget gangster flicks, is stepping up and joining the Hereford Films stable. Expect a new director too.
- The story hangs on the boxer Freddie Mills, who was suspected of being the serial killer Jack The Stripper. It is also rumoured that Mills was murdered by the Krays who made it look like an accident. The story has never been told on screen. No casting announcements on Mills as yet, but expect a guest star of Rita Simons’ calibre.
- Leslie Grantham’s death earlier this year means Kray nemesis ‘Nipper’ Read will have to be cast. According to imdb the role has been taken by Mark Harris, who gave a great performance in Hereford’s underrated Bonded By Blood 2 and is set to play the title role in their Roy Shaw biopic Pretty Boy in 2019.
This might not be the Krays’ only new outing. Producer Jonathan Sothcott, who lets face it knows this genre probably better than anyone else, was not shy about his plans to make one Krays film per year at the recent American Film Market.
