Sparks Enter UK Top 10 With 24th Studio Album
Sparks’ 24th studio album ‘A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip’ has today entered the Official UK Charts at Number 7.
Replicating the success of their 2017 album ‘Hippopotamus’, ‘A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip’ becomes the band’s second UK top 10 album since 1974, when ‘Kimono My House’ and ‘Propaganda’ reached number 4 and 9 respectively. ‘A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip’, which was originally released digitally in May to universal acclaim, also enters the Independent Album Chart at Number 1 following the physical release on July 3rd.
On hearing the news Ron and Russell Mael said “When making a record we determine to be adventurous and bold, to take risks and never compromise, and to make the best pop record we can. It means a lot that there is an audience who appreciate that. Thank you.”

Sparks last week released the video for ‘The Existential Threat’. Animated by Cyriak, views of the mind-bending video have already passed 600,000. Watch HERE.
This next year should also see the eagerly awaited premiere of the musical Annette, the first English-language film from groundbreaking French director Leos Carax (Holy Motors, Pola X), written by Ron and Russell Mael and starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard. In addition, director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver) is putting the finishing touches to his as-yet-untitled Sparks documentary, a long-in-the-making feature-length film celebrating this singular band.
