To do so, they looked at all streets in the UK containing the following romantic terms: bride, chivalry, cupid, date, diamond, dove, groom, heart, honey, kissing, love, lovers, marriage, partnership, ring, rose, sweet and valentine.

OnlineMortgageAdvisor.co.uk then found the average house price of each of these streets and compared them to the average house prices in the UK to see if romantic-related streets are valued higher or lower than the average.

What are the most romantic regions in the UK?
Data has shown that there are 705 streets with a romantic name in the UK. The most romantic region is the South East of England where you can find a whopping 115 streets containing a love related term in their name.

In second place is the East of England with 109 romantic streets, followed by Yorkshire and the Humber with 85 streets and North West England with 76 streets, ranking third and fourth place, respectively.

How does a romantic street name affect your property value in different regions?
Overall, the data shows that a romantic street name can DECREASE your property value by £854 (when compared to the average property value for the UK).

However, living on a street with a lovely name has a different effect on property value depending on the region you live in.
For people living in London, it has a very positive impact on their property value. More specifically, it can INCREASE it by a whopping £303,759! Other regions who benefit from a romantic street name are South East England (£125,447 property value increase), East of England (£61,118 property value increase) and South West England (£13,470 property value increase).

At the other end, we have the areas where a romantic street name can DECREASE the value of homes. In fact, in North West England a romantic street name is valued £153,455 LESS than the average UK property.

Similarly, in Northern Ireland a house on a romantically named street is worth £148,883 LESS than the UK average.

When compared to the average UK property value, the data shows a decrease of £854 for properties on a romantic street.
However, different romantic terms can either increase or decrease the value of your property.

The most common romantic street name term is ‘rose’ with 222 streets in the UK being named after the popular flower. However, streets with ‘rose’ in their name can DEVALUE your property by £49,003!

The second most popular term is ‘Love’ with 140 streets in the UK, and interestingly, this term can INCREASE the value of your property by £79,689!

The romantic term that can add the most value to your property is ‘Sweet’. In fact, streets with the word ‘Sweet’ in their name can make your property worth £1,172,736 MORE!

At the other end of the scale, the term that can devalue your property the most is ‘Partnership’. Streets with this term in their names are worth £143,868 LESS than the UK average!
