Launch of sustainable car club in Peacehaven

Local housebuilder Barratt Homes has officially launched a Car Club at its Chalkers Rise development on Pelham Rise in Peacehaven, East Sussex. The scheme will be available to all residents thanks to a partnership between Barratt Southern Counties and Enterprise Cars.

All residents at Chalkers Rise will benefit from five years’ free membership worth £300 annually and will also receive £50 worth of driving credit. The Car Club membership will include fuel, servicing, MOTs, breakdown cover, insurance and cleaning.

Residents can book use of the car through Enterprise Car Club app. In line with the sustainable ethos of Chalkers Rise, the vehicle will be a new Kia Niro hybrid, which will reduce carbon emissions locally and be more fuel efficient. Enterprise Cars is also operating a Complete Clean Pledge that follows strict Covid-19 guidelines, ensuring that all vehicles are cleaned and sanitised between every use.

Lynnette St-Quintin, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt Southern Counties, comments: “We are pleased to unveil our Car Club at Chalkers Rise, which we hope will work to decrease private vehicle ownership for our residents and encourage a more sustainable method of transport. This is just one of many sustainable implementations at the development, and complements existing plans including a high volume of electric vehicle charging points, and public transport incentives.”

Tony Barnard, Head of Enterprise Car Club in the South East, comments: “Car Clubs are increasing in popularity as society becomes more aware of their carbon footprint and moves towards living a more sustainable lifestyle. This is a great option for residents at Chalkers Rise who still need to use a car to travel around, but are looking to save money and reduce their carbon footprint.”

Chalkers Rise is set within the seaside town of Peacehaven, with the town centre and seafront just a short walk away. The development is also adjacent to Centenary Park, where playgrounds, five football pitches and a café can be found.

Currently available is a collection of three and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £364,995 for a three-bedroom end terrace home. Help to Buy is available on selected plots to first time buyers only.
