WHEN IT COMES TO DATING, COME BEARING GIFTS!

WITH CUFFING SEASON about to kick off, romantics up and down the country will be hoping to cuddle up with someone special to keep warm this winter, but singletons should make sure they are in the giving mood as gifts could be the key to your lover’s heart.

A survey from London cornerstone jewellery brand, ABELINI, has revealed that a staggering 80% of women say they would like to receive a gift from a perspective romantic partner right at the start of a relationship

Those feeling generous should consider that, women (56%) would most like to receive flowers from potential sweethearts, whereas men (22%) would prefer to receive chocolate. Jewellery is the third most popular gift, as a third of Brits (33%) say that they would like to receive something sparkly from a new partner.

For those nervous about making a good impression, don’t fret, 62% of Brits believe the secret to a successful date is to ‘just be yourself’, which will come as a huge reassurance to the many singletons trying to find love this winter.

For those wondering when a dating fling turns into something a bit more serious, 40% of Brits said this isn’t until they have introduced their potential partner to their parents. In fact, meeting the in-laws is considered even more momentous in the relationship stakes than saying ‘I love you’, which for 37% of Brits signals a serious relationship.

What’s more, singletons may find more people looking for love than ever before, as over a quarter (26%) of Brits say they now know what they want from dating and are keen to find it after the pandemic sized interruption to their love lives.

While 23% of UK singletons say they have lost a lot of time to the pandemic and feel in a hurry to catch-up where dating is concerned.

Nilesh Rakholia, director at ABELINI, said: “The pandemic made everyone revaluate their relationship status, pushing those who previously enjoyed the single life to start looking for love. We predict this autumn and winter – or as it is commonly known ‘cuffing season’ – to be a busy time for new budding romances.”

“There are lots of ways to show someone you love them, or solidify the seriousness of your relationship to that next level. One of my personal favourite things about jewellery is the relationship milestones that are cemented with a meaningful piece of jewellery to be kept and treasured forever. Whether surprising a loved one with a pretty bracelet to wear to the dinner they first meet the parents, or a showstopping engagement ring to make their love real – it’s the stories behind the pieces that makes jewellery gestures of romance and statements of love.
