World leaders given taste of the planet’s blue future as they enjoy Scottish seaweed on the day they pledge to end deforestation by 2030
World leaders and delegates gathering on day one of COP26 were served woodland mushroom and kale ramen and Loch Duart salmon ramen, both topped with Mara Seaweed seasoning – specially selected for its rich flavour and outstanding sustainability credentials.
Fiona Houston, founder of Mara Seaweed, said: “Seaweed absorbs more CO2 than anything on land, including trees, doesn’t require fertiliser or fresh water, and provides a delicious and nutritious product with significant health benefits for consumers.
“It is Mara’s mission to help the world reach its sustainable food systems and carbon reduction targets by promoting Scotland’s biggest superfood – seaweed.
“We are very pleased at the positive outcomes that we’re already seeing from COP. Deforestation is a major step, but the biggest change will be a pledge to empower the blue economy.
“I hope all the world leaders and delegates who tasted our seaweed yesterday are aware not only of how great Mara seaweed tastes, but of its huge sustainability and nutritional benefits.”
