Do you feel it too? Is the magic of Christmas still alive for you?

‘’Christmassy’’ – what is it? What is it to feel the magic of Christmas? We know that to most children, Christmas is all about the suspense of waiting for Santa to arrive and deliver all the presents! Then we begin to realise that the man in the big red suit that rides through the sky on a sleigh pulled by reindeers isn’t real, and it’s really been our parents sneaking to fill our stockings. So … do you still feel the magic?

Bed Guru surveyed 2,000 to uncover whether our nation still feels the magic of Christmas. The survey *thankfully* revealed that the majority of adults STILL feel the magic of Christmas … hurray!

They key to feeling the magic long into adulthood isn’t just about believing in Santa, but about maintaining tradition. The magic of Christmas stems from your childhood traditions. As you get older you may be less inclined to write a letter to Santa and leave out a mince pie and carrot for him and his reindeer on Christmas Eve. However, there are many other family traditions to hold on to that can help you hold onto your Christmas spirit. Keeping up these childhood traditions will help all those warm, fuzzy, magical Christmas feelings come flooding back.

As you become parents, the magic of Christmas is revived! There is nothing more special than watching your kids’ faces light up on Christmas morning as they realise Santa came to visit. It can almost a bitter sweet moment. Realising that now you yourself are all grown up with all these adult responsibilities, and you know all of Santa’s secrets. Do not fear though! Becoming a parent means you’re arguably even more immersed in the magic of Christmas as you can create the magic for your kids. Get creative and think of new Christmas traditions for the whole family to keep the Christmas spirit alive for everyone!

While the majority of adults are lucky enough to still experience the magic of Christmas, research has revealed this fades with age. Bed Guru’s survey also found that 49.7% of people over the age of 50 feel the magic of Christmas fading away. It seems that the older we get, the harder it is to keep the spirit of Christmas alive. It’s very easy for the elderly to feel lonely at Christmas. A lot of the magic of Christmas is spending quality time with loved ones. This can be bitter sweet for the elderly as it reminds them of lost loved ones.

For kids the magic is believing in Santa, for parents the magic is in being Santa, but what about for the oldies? Maybe this Christmas pay a little bit of extra attention to making the old people feel the magic of Christmas! Take the time to help them decorate their tree, take them Christmas shopping or to some Christmas markets and be sure to have them over for a delicious Christmas Day Meal!
