Local Housebuilder donates £1,000 to Basingstoke NeighbourCare
Hampshire housebuilder Barratt Homes has recently extended financial support to the NeighbourCare charity in Basingstoke. The housebuilder, who is behind the Gillies Meadow development on Park Prewett Road, made the £1000 donation from its Community Fund initiative, which sees the housebuilder reinvest in local communities close to its new homes developments.
NeighbourCare is a vital service to the residents of Basingstoke, especially for those who are vulnerable, and currently helps over 500 people in the local community. NeighbourCare offers multiple services which include transporting people to medical appointments and therapy sessions, providing trips to visit a loved one, taking them to Covid-19 vaccination centres, or simply taking them shopping.
With the support provided by a hard-working and dedicated team of volunteers, fundraisers and sponsors, the charity makes a positive contribution to the quality of life and the wellbeing of all those who they support. The charity also offers a befriending service for lonely and isolated members of the community.
The donation from Barratt Southern Counties will be used to support the charity’s service users over the winter, allowing its volunteers to continue to provide a high-quality support system to vulnerable people within the Basingstoke community.
Kimberley Benson, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt Southern Counties, comments: “We are proud to support a charity like NeighbourCare through our Community Fund, and understand how important it is to ensure that some of the most vulnerable members of our society are supported, particularly throughout the winter months that often prove most challenging. We hope our donation goes a little way in enabling the charity’s services to run over the coming weeks.”
Peter Robson, Chair of NeighbourCare, comments: “NeighbourCare provides vital support where it is needed to allow people to access medical and other services. We would like to thank Barratt Southern Counties for this donation. We rely on ongoing support from a variety of sources across the community and this will help the running of the charity.”
