ANNINGTON HELPS VETERANS CLUB PUT DOWN ROOTS WITH ALLOTMENT DONATION

Annington, the company responsible for building new homes at The Bluebells in Allington, has donated funds towards a community allotment at the Salisbury and Amesbury division of the Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club (AFVBC). The additional funds mean the club can purchase a walk-in growing cage ahead of seed-sowing this spring.

The AFVBC encourages veterans and serving Armed Forces Personnel to meet face to face to combat loneliness and create a sense of belonging. The allotment is the charity’s latest initiative, enabling its members to socialise while nurturing plants and vegetables. The growing cage is designed for fruit and vegetable gardens and will offer protection from wildlife and the elements.

Louise Saunders, Sales and Marketing Manager at Annington, commented: “Annington understands the importance of fostering healthy relationships and being part of a community; participating in an activity together, like gardening, allows the veterans to have a common goal to work towards and talk about. We hope this donation will not only provide healthy food but will contribute to their overall well-being.

Andy Heath, Lead Admin for the Salisbury and Amesbury AFVBC, commented: “The growing cage will allow us to expand our vegetable and fruit collection. Spending time outside in nature helps people feel connected and at peace; this is essential to those members who feel adrift after leaving the military. Thank you to Annington for this thoughtful donation.”

Annington will be releasing the final phase of properties at on open day event on Saturday 26 February. The popular development consists of 17 executive four and five-bedroom detached family homes and a brand-new village hall. Prices currently start from £535,000 for a 4-bedroom home.
