Queen would be ‘really hurt’ by Harry’s ‘shocking’ claims, says former royal butler
QUEEN Elizabeth would be “really hurt” by the shocking claims made about the Royal Family by Prince Harry in his bombshell interviews, a former Royal butler says.
Grant Harrold told GB News: “I was very close to William and Harry as I was to the father and I found this very sad because they were a very close family.
“Some of the things he’s saying are shocking. There are some things that you just don’t bring up, and I don’t quite understand what’s going on. I don’t know what he’s trying to get across.
“They’re obviously upset. They want to get their views, their truths across and that’s what’s really difficult and for me, listening to this, knowing how close they were.
“It’s very sad and I hate to say it but I am glad that the Queen’s not around to hear and see all this because I think it would have really hurt her because she was certainly all about family.
“She had that mantra of never explain and never complain and just getting on with the duty of being a royal. But that’s not what’s happening because we’re discussing this family fallout.”
Mr Harrold said: “I think the King would be really upset about these comments, even devastated.
“From my point of view, without breaking confidences – I was there for several years and certainly around the time of the wedding.
“I was lucky enough to be a guest and I was around just before the wedding and obviously after and I was unaware of any of these feelings.
“It’s possible they had these feelings or discussions but I was never aware of anything.”
He said: “The King is a very caring and compassionate man. He is somebody who doesn’t want any fuss. He’s there to get on with the job and I really believe he will find this hurtful.
“And as far as Harry, people say how will this affect the relationship going forward? He’s a father. I’ve seen him as a father, he’s a wonderful father.
“Going forward. I don’t know how this is going to work out. I don’t know how this is going to play out. I don’t know if it’s going to damage the relationship.
“On the public side we might see the doors closed, we might see this as the end of the public side of that relationship.”
Mr Harrold added: “Money is always the reason why this is happening.
“I get that he wanted to step away from the Royal Family. I get he wants to do his own thing. I even get that maybe they want to work in the media…
“So none of that’s that unusual, but it is a very different thing when you’re selling stories to make money on telling stories about your own family.
“That’s where it becomes very dangerous, really dangerous.”
