G2 Esports release 2023 single “DETONATE”

G2 Esports, the most entertaining Esports organization in the world, released its 2023 single “Detonate,” encapsulating its mission for the new year and bringing to life what the company is all about. The track features hardcore gamer, metalhead and TikTok sensation, Jeris Johnson alongside the talented Theresa Jarvis from English rock band Yonaka, based out of Brighton, on vocals.

Already one of the world’s most successful and distinctive esports organizations, G2 Esports is furthering its expansion into the entertainment world with the release of “Detonate.” The highly anticipated track was developed in-house by G2 and will serve as the organization’s 2023 anthem. It is a further demonstration of how G2 Esports plan to expand within music, reinforcing the top tier entertainment it delivers to its 45 million fans worldwide.

Telling powerful stories has always been at the forefront of G2’s brand ethos and “Detonate” embodies G2’s relentless energy as it gears up for another entertaining and dominant year ahead. A sonic invocation of the G2 way, “Detonate” represents the company’s ambitions for the 2023 competitive season, blowing up preconceived notions of the brand while celebrating the diversity and unity of the faces behind G2.

The video for “Detonate” was directed by Thuy Ha, Anna Hryhorieva, Vera Mayskaya, Charles Dalton, and the G2 team. Shot at a bowling alley in Berlin, featuring G2 creators and players, rocking the brand’s 2023 team jersey, soon to be donned at the start of LEC League of Legends new competitive season, later this month. Discussing joining G2 for this project, Jeris Johnson noted, “I’ve been wanting to get my music involved in the gaming space for a while now, so when G2 first approached me about ‘Detonate’ it was an absolute no-brainer. Been a gamer my entire life and still have dreams of making the soundtrack to a game at some point in the future. Rock music and gaming used to be one in the same, so I saw this as an opportunity to bring rock back into gaming in a meaningful way.”

G2 developed the song in house, with Jeris Johnson joining brothers Jacob Bitove and Nicolas Bitove of ROMES, and Alex Sacco (aka SACCO) to write “Detonate.” The track was produced by G2, Jacob Alexander, Jeris Johnson, SACCO, Riley Thomas, Josh White, with additional production by Rush Garcia and Aleks Von Korff. And was executive produced by G2 Esports, with Alex Seaver of Mako, Viranda Tantula of Potion Projects, and Noah Gladstone of Hollywood Scoring.

G2’s entertainment effort is an ongoing process. The Esports disrupters released their first foray into music last January, with the power metal track “Our Way,” which has garnered nearly 10 million streams across all platforms since. The annual anthem single is part of what G2 is looking to do across the entertainment landscape. Expansion into other areas, such as music is a fluid but long-lasting process.
