GMB PARLIAMENTARY STAFF RESPOND TO DAVID CARRICK GUILTY PLEA
GMB Union stands in total solidarity with the brave victims who came forward and helped to secure these convictions
GMB’s Parliamentary staff branch has responded to police officer David Carrick pleading guilty to rape.
Jenny Symmons, GMB Parliamentary Staff Branch Rep, said:
“The GMB MPs’ and Lords’ Staff Branch is horrified to hear the details of the David Carrick case today.
“We stand in total solidarity with the brave victims who came forward and helped to secure these convictions.
“David Carrick was an officer in the parliamentary and diplomatic command. He will have worked on the Parliamentary estate and come into contact with staff who work there.
“There will now be serious questions about the police’s vetting processes that could allow someone so dangerous to serve as a police officer for so long.
“All members of staff – and in this case particularly women – deserve to feel safe in their place of work.”
