Google data reveals the celebrity names we are spelling wrong
Have you ever forgotten how to spell the name of one of your favorite celebrities? Well, you’re not alone.
New research from Unscrambled Words has revealed the celeb names with the most misspellings per month, with some surprising results. The team used data from Google and analyzed over 100 celebrities and their most common name misspellings.
American actor Johnny Depp takes first place as the celebrity misspelled the most, with Jonny Depp (without the h) having 129,000 searches per month.
FRIENDS actress Courteney Cox takes second place, with Courtney Cox seeing 111,000 searches on Google each month, with many forgetting the extra e in her name, Courteney.
Grammy award-winning British signer Adele is third on the list, with 87,000 Google searches each month for Adelle with two Ls.
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is fourth, with Megan Markle (without the h) having 77,000 searches on Google each month.
21-year-old singer Billie Eilish has 75,000 searches a month for Billie Elish, while Ed Sheeran has 64,000 searches for Ed Sheran.
Some other misspellings on the list include Nicky Minaj, Katie Perry, Ariane Grande, and Zendeya.
Popstar Dua Lipa also has 20,000 searches a month for “Dula Peep”, a name given to her by American talk show host Wendy Williams in 2019.
A spokesperson for Unscrambled Words said: “Celebrities are the most talked about people on the planet; however, as our research shows, not everyone is spelling their names correctly.
“All over the world, thousands of people are misspelling some of these iconic celebs. Just imagine if Rihanna was a Rianna or Katy Perry became Katie Perry, would they still have the same levels of success?”
