St George ranks as the patron saint of property values
St George ranks as the patron saint of house prices
Research by eXp UK, the network of personal estate agents, has shown that St George ranks top as the patron saint of property prices, with a properties on roads named after the patron saint of England coming in at an average of £275,000; higher than roads named after St David, St Andrew and St Patrick.
eXp UK analysed house price growth across each patron saint’s nation, as well as sold prices over the last year on roads containing each patron saint’s name.
The research shows that across each nation as a whole, St George ranks top when it comes to property price pedigree, with the current average of price of a home across England coming in at £310,159, followed by Wales (£216,871), Scotland (£185,016) and finally Northern Ireland (£175,234).
When it comes to the average rate of house price growth seen over the last year, it’s St Patrick that takes the top spot, with house prices in Northern Ireland up 10.2% versus a 7% increase across England.
However, when looking at the value of homes on a road named after a patron saint, St George once again reigns victorious.
Across the nation, homes on roads with St George in the name commanded an average sold price of £275,000 in 2022.
St Andrew proved the second most prestigious patron saint from a house price point of view, with homes on roads named after the Scottish patron saint commanding an average of £264,000 in 2022.
St David ranked third with an average sold price of £240,000, followed by St Patrick at £220,000.
Head of eXp UK, Adam Day, commented:
“Homes on streets dedicated to our patron saint command the highest house price premiums when compared to those named after other patron saints of Britain and that will be cause for additional celebration for homeowners residing on them this St George’s Day.
The good news is that they still come in some way below the national average and so homebuyers wishing to display their patriotism with a St George’s property purchase can actually do so for a relatively affordable cost.
