Almost half of of all takeaways in Britain arrive cold, new research reveals
British food-lovers have hit out at the nation’s sub-par food delivery services – following new research revealing nearly half of all orders arrive COLD.
The nationwide survey of 2,000 people from SUPPER London found a whopping 48% of all orders are delivered at an unacceptable temperature.
According to the data, one in five UK residents order at least one meal a week, channelling more than £220m into the UK’s economy each and every week.
When it comes to what’s important in food delivery, respondents report temperature (65%) and quality (84%) are the key factors.
The independent survey, commissioned by premium food delivery service Supper London, revealed just how often London-based foodies are left disappointed and frustrated with their restaurant delivery experiences.
Almost three in ten (29%) complain of poor food quality, while a similar number (30%) have received the wrong order and almost half (46%) have had their food order cancelled.
London proved to be the worst-affected city, with the highest number of reports of cold food deliveries. Just 43% of Londoners say their food arrives hot, compared to 73% of Scots.
With 18% of British people admitting to often being disappointed by their order, it’s no surprise that half (50%) say they would pay more for better quality options and to guarantee their food arrives hot, every time.
