Having supported the likes of Wolf Alice, Froth, Lime Garden and Frankie and the Witch Fingers, School Disco are back with a brand spanking new release ready to rock for the ages. Previously receiving support from BBC introducing, CLUNK Magazine, Spotify and Amazing radio, the bands upwards trajectory is unstoppable, and their upcoming releases are only set to propel them further into indie rock fame.

School Disco are Rory Lethbridge (Guitar / Vocals), Elliot Standford (Guitar / Vocals / Keys), Laur Underwood (Bass), Harry Heyes (Drums) and Tim Girdler (Studio Bass).

Formed in 2016 in Brighton via Plymouth, the band take influence from the likes of Black Sabbath and CAN, while taking inspiration from sci-fi literature and HP Lovecraft alike.

Adding to their already colourful and brazen discography, School Disco have announced the release of their upcoming single ‘Feelings Coming’. Recorded at Sour Grapes Records in Denton, Manchester and the body of the track was conceived in a mere thirty minutes. Rife with detailed imagery, energetic electric guitar lines command upon entry before making way for drilling and commanding percussive beats. Vocals akin to Ian Curtis of Joy Division fame droll throughout, providing organic depth and intrigue to the track.

Talking on the track, Rory notes: “‘Feelings Coming’ is the only song we wrote in the studio, its one of the shortest songs on the album and maybe went from writing to having the main parts recorded in 30 mins. I wanted to try and make a song that sounded like the Pixies mixed with Black Sabbath with a sorta soul break down in the middle so that’s the approach we took with this. I really like simple the song is and how we were able to add extra elements like the extremely talented Eva Lunny on the harp’’.

High-octane, thrilling and boasting punk-rock vibes, the track also features wild electronic soundscapes and bubbly sound effects. ‘Feelings Coming’ sees the band depart from the more melodic notes of tracks such as ‘Echoes’ and delve further into coarser rock ‘n’ roll.

Cacophonous sounds perfectly complement the narrative of the cut – a tryphophobic nightmare wherein bugs emerge from organic holes in the ground – this grotesque imagery results in a gritty number that aptly reintroduces the world to the wonders of School Disco.

Complete with swirling and pulsating visuals, the release of ‘Feelings Coming’ will be accompanied by a music video that directly encapsulate the frenetic energy of the track.

‘Feelings Coming’ is the first track to be released from their upcoming record ‘Denton Rock’.

”’Denton Rock’ is an album I’m super proud of, with a whole new line-up we really got into a groove playing new songs and reimagining old ones live. We booked out a studio in Manchester that our friends have and we managed to get down 90% of the album in 3 days. We all really hit a groove and it was such a fun creative process with everyone down to get experimental and use the studios as a big playground. Some songs we had mastered before the studio, and some songs we finished in the studio by playing around and jamming in a similar fashion to what we do live.

I also reached out to a few friends and guests that really elevate the album with their contributions – Eva Lunny on harp adds such depth and Brennan Harvey’s Alto Sax on Crying Beasts adds more for me than any guitar would. I feel we really took the DIY aesthetic that our first two albums have and elevated it further” – Rory

‘Feelings Coming’ is out July 14th.

‘Denton Rock’ is out September 15th and is available to pre-order via BandCamp and Copper Feast Records’ Webstore. The album will be released digitally, on vinyl & on CD via Copper Feast Records and Krautpop! Records.
