TEMPUR® & XBOX CREATE THE ULTIMATE GAMING CHAIR TO MARK LAUNCH OF THE NEW STARFIELD™ GAME

Premium mattress brand, TEMPUR®, and international gaming company, Xbox, have joined forces to create a one-of-a-kind gaming chair – the Starfield x TEMPUR® Dream Chair – to mark the launch of this year’s most highly anticipated video game, Starfield – a role-playing adventure set amongst the stars and the first new game from Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years.

Created using TEMPUR®’s unique pressure absorbing material – born from NASA technology developed for use on board the Space Shuttles – the world’s first ‘Dream Chair’ was unveiled in Cologne, Germany, at the world’s largest gaming event, Gamescom, ahead of Starfield’s official launch on 6 September.

With a reported 39.1 million gamers in the UK spending an average of 4 hours 57 minutes gaming per week, the Dream Chair recognises the value gamers place on gaming set-ups. Rooted in the ‘NASA punk’ aesthetic that permeates the Starfield game, the chair ensures full immersion in the virtual worlds they explore. Independent motion control is enabled thanks to a joystick on each arm rest, allowing gamers to find that perfect position before delving into an exclusive in-game flight through the universe of Starfield. The Dream Chair has also been designed to be fully accessible, pivoting to both the left and right in order to remove the need to step into the design.

The Dream Chair has been designed and hand crafted by Nicholas Alexander and team, whose previous work includes installations for Louboutin, TUI and eBay.

To celebrate the chair’s debut at the iconic Xbox booth at Gamescom, fans will be immersed in an exclusive in-game flight through the universe of Starfield, including never-before-seen footage created exclusively for Gamescom. TEMPUR® and Xbox are also unveiling an exclusive space-themed Dream Chair launch video – titled “When one adventure ends, a dream begins.”

Following Gamescom (23-27 August), the chair will become the star attraction at the Saturn Xperion store in Germany, before enjoying a month-long residency at the TEMPUR® store in Westfield, Stratford, in October 2023, where fans will be able to experience the unparalleled adaptive comfort and support of the Dream Chair for themselves.

Come the end of the year gamers (or collectors) will have the opportunity to enter a charity raffle to win the Starfield x TEMPUR® Dream Chair to enhance their own gaming setups, with all proceeds going to charity.
