Experience the Kitchen of the Future at Installer Kitchens & Bathrooms
InstallerSHOW has revealed that the Kitchen of the Future will form a central feature at the inaugural Installer Kitchens & Bathrooms event in June 2024.
At its heart will be the brainchild of award-winning designer and author Johnny Grey, a 4Gen kitchen created in collaboration with expert in ageing, Professor Peter Gore.
Described as the world’s most intelligent kitchen by Newcastle Helix, and originally installed at the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing, after extensive research, the prototype has been secured by Installer Kitchens & Bathrooms to deliver an exclusive experience for InstallerSHOW visitors.
Built as a research project aiming at total inclusivity, the multigenerational kitchen includes a state-of-the-art ‘cooking anywhere’ induction hob, representing the newest, safest cooking technology, as well as a working table with a linked circular preparation counter, rise-and-fall countertops, and wall cupboards made from carbon-neutral, lightweight and fireproof materials. A ‘soft geometry’ walk-in pantry offers easy visual and physical access.
Johnny Grey comments: “Creating a kitchen that was welcoming for everyone, not just older people but children, friends and home workers was an exciting challenge. It combines beauty and function, with flexible, responsive furniture, and technology which means it behaves in a way that works for the whole family. It’s more than just a kitchen, it’s a living space, and I’m thrilled that Installer Kitchens & Bathrooms visitors will have the chance to enjoy it.”
Michael Costain, Managing Director of Lyrical Communications, adds: “We’re delighted to be able to offer visitors to InstallerSHOW an exclusive opportunity to experience Johnny Grey’s vision in the flesh. With multigenerational living becoming ever more prevalent, we understand the need to ensure designers, retailers and installers are equipped to make informed choices about the products and technologies available. The Kitchen of the Future allows us to do that in a meaningful and visually engaging way.”
In addition to the Kitchen of the Future, Installer Kitchens & Bathrooms will offer a packed content programme covering topics such as water and energy efficiency, design innovation, sustainable and smart technology, and changing legislation. It is backed by a number of organisations including the BMA, BiKBBI, NKBA, AMDEA UK and the Unified Water Label, as well as a host of leading manufacturers.
InstallerSHOW 2024 takes place at NEC Birmingham from 25-27 June.
