Bunkabin celebrates success of Kevin Sinfield’s 7 in 7 in 7 Challenge

Sponsors of Kevin Sinfield’s 7 in 7 in 7 Challenge Bunkabin has celebrated the completion of his mammoth challenge.

Former rugby league star Kevin Sinfield has completed seven ultra-marathons in seven days in seven different cities. Starting in Headingley on 1st December, Kevin has run in York, Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin and Brighton before completing his challenge in London on 7th December.

Kevin Sinfield was running for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and was inspired by his friend Rob Burrows who was diagnosed with the disease in 2019.

Bunkabin donated for all the challenges. A family friend of the company, Phil Allingan is one of the unsung heroes who rides alongside Kevin, he made Bunkabin aware of the vest sponsorships on his previous challenge 7 Ultras in 7 Days. Phil kindly invited Bunkabin again to take up a spot on the front of the vest. Bunkabin simply wanted to support an incredible challenge.

Luke Rothwell of Bunkabin said: “We are so proud of Kevin’s achievement and for such a great cause. It’s fantastic to see the support he has seen through the week and we are so happy to be a small part of this event.

“Our paths crossed with Kevin when Bunkabin’s company founder Frank Rothwell was preparing to row across the Atlantic in aid of Alzheimer’s research. They were also both awarded the Oldham Honorary Freeman of the Borough. This has only been awarded 28 times in 114 years and one recipient was the former Oldham MP, Sir Winston Churchill!

“The bond between Kevin and Rob is so symbolic of what rugby continues to mean. If prevention or treatment of brain conditions like MND and Alzheimer’s can be found then mankind benefits not just rugby. History will look back and highlight what an incredible contribution both Kevin and Frank have made towards this aim. Those calls for Sir Kev are getting louder and louder.”
