GO THE EXTRA MILE AT THE BANHAM MARSDEN MARCH 2024

The Banham Marsden March will see thousands of walkers come together to raise vital funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, with both in-person and virtual options available for participants.

Registration is now open for this inspiring, family-friendly event on Sunday 12 May 2024, where thousands of supporters walk 15 miles between The Royal Marsden’s two hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton, or join in for the final five miles. There is also the chance to enjoy entertainment and a selection of delicious food at the fun-filled, finish line celebration.

The Banham Marsden March at Home will also be back, offering the chance to choose your route and distance as you explore the best of your local area, across the UK or abroad.

Since it began in 2011, the event has raised £16 million for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, thanks to the incredible efforts of those who have taken part. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity supports the work of The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre, improving the lives of cancer patients everywhere.

The Banham Marsden March is made possible thanks to leading security providers Banham, who first sponsored the walk back in 2015. Banham has generously extended the partnership to 2025 as the title sponsor for both options.

Antonia Dalmahoy, Managing Director of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, said:

“We’re really excited to see our incredible supporters out in force at The Banham Marsden March and The Banham Marsden March at Home. This much-loved event makes such a difference to people with cancer at The Royal Marsden and around the world, helping to fund life-saving research and ensuring patients receive the very best treatment and care. We are hugely grateful to Banham for their generous support and can’t wait to see Team Banham and all our amazing walkers at this year’s start line.”

Among those who walked last year was Kate O’Brien, who raised over £7,000 as part of her 20-strong team, the Hakuna Ma-ta-tas, completing the 15-mile route.

She said: “I wanted to do The Banham Marsden March to mark 10 years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. A decade on, I continue to receive such outstanding care from The Royal Marsden. Taking part was really emotional – it was lovely to share this moment with my family and friends who have supported me along the way, and an amazing feeling to cross the finish line.”

Charles Hallatt, Executive Chairman at Banham, said:

“Banham have been proudly supporting The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity since 2015, making this year’s Banham Marsden March our ninth event together.

“Within Banham, many of us have sadly been touched by cancer either directly, through our loved ones or amongst our colleagues. It is what makes this a cause that is so close to our hearts and why we continue to support and take part in this event that raises vital funds for cancer patients worldwide.

“Since 2015, over 540 members of Team Banham have taken part, raising over £170,000 to support the life-saving work of The Royal Marsden.

“We are proud to be continuing our support of the Charity as title sponsor of The Banham Marsden March and The Banham Marsden March at Home in 2024 and cannot wait to come together once again in support of this incredibly important cause.”
