First-time buyer moves into new apartment in Barking just four weeks after reserving
When first-time buyer Tanaz Ghaffarsedeh found the perfect place to call home she was keen to move in as soon as possible.
The film editor, who had been renting in London for many years, had decided it was time to step on the property ladder and found her ideal new-build apartment at Bellway London’s Fielders Quarter development at Barking Riverside.
Just four weeks after reserving a first-floor one-bedroom apartment, she completed on the purchase recently.
Tanaz, who is known as Tani, said: “The team at Fielders Quarter were really supportive and I would definitely recommend the team to anyone looking to purchase a new build in the area.”
Having settled into her new home at Fielders Quarter, Tani has been happy to slow the pace a little, taking her time to get the apartment exactly as she wants. Part of the appeal of the development was that it was new build so she had a blank canvas to work on.
“It was my first time purchasing a property and it was important to me that I was able to put my own stamp on my home,” she said.
“I’ve had friends come to visit and they are amazed that I was prepared to wait for so long for furniture like my sofa and bed to arrive, but I wanted to be sure that what I was buying was exactly what I wanted.

Tani, who is originally from Persia, moved to the UK when she was 10, initially living in Scotland. She moved to London after studying music composition at the University of Glasgow.
For the past two years, she had been renting in Hampstead, but decided it was time to invest in her own place.
She said: “I’d spent so much on renting since being in London and thought enough is enough. Buying a property is a long-term investment and it feels so good to finally be able to call myself a homeowner.”
Tani is now enjoying life at Barking Riverside. She commutes to work in Marylebone from Barking Riverside Overground station, catching a train to Wanstead Park for the Elizabeth Line to Bond Street. In her spare time, she enjoys walks in the area.
She said: “The area is amazing. Having the river and green space here, as well as being so close to central London is incredible. It’s very good for me as it helps inspire my creativity when I’m thinking about other projects.
“The transport links are also fantastic. If the overground or Elizabeth Line services aren’t running, I can get to work via the tube, or I can use the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers.
“In my apartment, there is so much light that comes in from both sides of the living room and it’s so spacious. The view from the balcony is also beautiful as it looks right out onto the Thames.”
Tani is also full of praise for the sales staff at Fielders Quarter, particularly Suzanne Wilkinson and Monique Robinson.
She said: “Suzanne and Monique were very supportive and positive. They helped advise the best solicitor that I should go with, as well as the type of property that would be most suited to myself.
“They were very accommodating in helping me choose an apartment that was on an upper floor, spacious and let a lot of light in.
“On the first day I visited Fielders Quarter, I was taken to view a showhome and then the apartment I ended up securing. It was such an easy process and I cannot thank the staff enough for ensuring a smooth sale.”
Bellway London is building a selection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments at Fielders Quarter in Barking, with one-bedroom apartments currently available to reserve from £264,995.
