John Digweed returns to XOYO London for special Bedrock Records takeover
Global dance music innovator John Digweed is returning to the London clubbing hotspot, XOYO on Sunday June 2nd with an all-encompassing daytime showcase of his cult Bedrock label. The tastemaking DJ will be joined by a vital associate from the Bedrock family – yet to be announced – less than 12 months after a historic first XOYO take-over in October 2023. This exclusive event runs from 4pm to 10pm and is an unmissable summer showdown in the capital’s beloved underground venue. Tickets are already selling fast and on third release, priced from £25+bf and available from www.xoyo.co.uk.
The last time Digweed brought his Bedrock label to XOYO it was a sold-out roadblock. Hundreds of his famously diehard fans turned out to be part of the venue’s electrifying atmosphere and to catch the long-time UK mainstay soundtracking his way through prog house to techno.
As far back as the 90s, John Digweed set a high standard for mix CDs with the legendary Renaissance series, alongside long-time partner in sound Sasha, plus seminal mixes for Global Underground. Today, under the banner of his influential Transitions radio show, he remains a purveyor of long form mixing, curating the forward-thinking collection, Futuro.
Featuring over a dozen times in DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll, Digweed held a legendary residency at Twilo in New York. His famously dexterous DJ style sees long transitions build enthralling musical journeys full of plenty of twists and turns. His studio productions are no different, from charting-topping early remixes for the Orb and Underworld to modern-day underground anthems, he never fails to bring all new invention to techno. Digweed’s vital Bedrock label has long been a core part of his artistic output and home to plenty of the scene’s most essential artists.
This unique daytime party will mean Digweed will be able to indulge an alternative side of his sound and will give dancers a chance to hear him in a different context than usual. XOYO is of course a perfect spot for this – the intimate club hosts just 800 people for up close and personal parties and is known for its forward-thinking line-ups, innovative residency concepts from the likes of Hunee, DJ Harvey and Andy C, and expertly-tuned sound system, which ensures every beat is delivered as it should be alongside the subtly immersive production.
This second chapter in the Bedrock and XOYO story is set to be another unmissable event that fully immerses dancers in the unique sounds of John Digweed and the Bedrock imprint.
