Paris 2024: First ever ParalympicsGB official fan zones to be set up across the UK
For the first time ever, official ParalympicsGB fan zones are being set up across the UK, managed by Ocean Outdoor in partnership with ParalympicsGB.
Each accessible fan zone will be free to enter and open daily from 28 August until 8 September, showing live sporting action from the Paralympics on big screens every day as the Games unfold.
All the fan zones are curated and managed by Ocean with ParalympicsGB and will include a programme of special events, activities, competitions, promotions and guest athlete appearances.
The six official ParalympicsGB fan zones will be located in London, Liverpool, Southampton, Bristol and Birmingham. The venues are:
Battersea Power Station, London SW11 8DD
Catch all the live action from Power Station Park at the iconic Battersea Power Station, which is home to over 140 British and international brands. The fan zone is part of the neighbourhood’s Battersea Games event this summer, with a variety of free family-friendly sports and games themed activities available between 1 July – 8 September.
Westfield Square, Westfield London W12 7SL
The UK’s largest retail and leisure destination in West London features over 350 shops, cafés, restaurants and entertainment venues. Located just off Wood Lane, Westfield Square is a popular venue for visitors to view the Paralympic games this year.
Liverpool ONE, Chavasse Park L1 8JQ
With more than 170 stores, bars and restaurants and a five-acre park at its heart, it’s a perfect venue for fans to support the Paralympians as they compete in Paris.
The following three fan zones are hosted by destinations which are operated by Hammerson:
Cabot Circus, Bristol BS1 3BD
Set in the heart of the city’s retail and entertainment quarter, Bristol’s outdoor fan zone brings the excitement of the Paralympics to life in a communal atmosphere.
Westquay, Southampton SO15 1QF
Set against a historic backdrop on the Western Esplanade, fans can cheer on the athletes from amphitheatre style seating or deck chairs whist enjoying food and drinks from the surrounding bars and restaurants.
Bullring & Grand Central, Birmingham B5 4BU
Situated in the city centre, Bullring’s St Martin’s Square will once again become a hub of sporting excitement with a large format screen and seating area.
David Clarke, chief executive of the British Paralympic Association, said: “Few things can match the thrill of watching live sport with friends and family, and these fan zones will give people the chance to celebrate the brilliance of ParaylmpicsGB athletes in a way that brings people together.
“These trailblazing fan zones show how far the Paralympic movement has come and I am confident there will be countless moments of sporting drama to unite and inspire the nation during Paris 2024.”
Ocean Outdoor head of content and sponsorship Kevin Henry said: “This is first time we are bringing ParalympicsGB fan zones to the UK. Celebrating the determination, courage and skills of Britain’s Paralympic athletes as they compete on the world stage is an important step towards our mission to bring the spirit of the Paralympics to the streets of Britain.”
