NO7 IS ON A MISSION TO END MAKEUP ON THE MOVE MISHAPS WITH NEW PRO ARTIST COSMETICS

For time-poor women, applying makeup on the move is part of their daily routine, with 43% of female commuters saying they regularly do their makeup on their way to work, a figure which jumps to 53% amongst 30–44 year-olds. However, most of these women (88%) claim it comes with its challenges and report they have experienced makeup mishaps on the move.

New research, carried out by beauty brand No7, delves into the makeup habits of UK women. It found that women are increasingly doing their makeup on-the-go, because they don’t have time at home. Women say they apply makeup on the commute so they can be more productive and carve out some ‘me time’ before starting the working day. Over half of women (58%) profess to applying makeup on the commute so they can hit the snooze button, while fitness fanatics love that it frees up more time for them to go to the gym or workout in the morning (41%).

However, tricky train rides are influencing the makeup looks that women on the move create as two thirds (66%) of women revealed they avoid attempting the classic winged eyeliner while in transit, followed by 34% who wouldn’t dream of applying a red lip when on the move. Pet peeves included a lack of space to apply makeup (53%) or, for half of women (50%), poor lighting is the biggest obstacle as they’re sat away from a window or its too dark.

Stop-start traffic when in the back of a taxi, crowded carriages and bumpy bus routes have caused other struggles with 52% of women poking themselves in eye while applying makeup on-the-go, and nearly one third of women (29%) having suffered with smudged lipstick. Others found they’d made themselves look too orange, and one respondent even claimed they were left looking like a panda at the end of their commute due to mismatching eyeliner.

On a mission to help women look and feel their best, No7 is releasing The No7 Beauty Knowledge – a free handbook created in collaboration with London cabbies and No7’s Makeup Artist Ambassador Nicola Chapman – offering tips and tricks for applying makeup on-the-go, using the No7 Pro Artist collection, whether you’re travelling by tube, train or cab. No7 Pro Artist is a capsule collection comprising high quality, premium formulas. The latest additions to the range can make doing makeup on the move that little bit easier, with multi-use products such as the Pro Artist Bronze & Glow Multistick, and the Pro Artist Eyeshadow Palette that includes a compact mirror.

No7 Makeup Artist Ambassador, Nicola Chapman said: “Applying makeup on the move is a brilliant way to shortcut and ensure you still feel like yourself as you move throughout your day. However, I know from experience there’s nothing worse than a jolting train sending your lipstick flying! My top hacks for doing makeup on-the-go successfully would be to use creamy formulas which avoid powder spillages and are easy to blend in with your fingers when you don’t have much time, it also means you don’t need to pack additional brushes. If you’re after a quick makeup transformation, mascara or lipstick are the best choices as you can layer as you wish without worrying about applying too much!”
Celebrating the new No7 Pro Artist launches and supporting the ‘Makeup On The Move’ movement, No7 has taken over a fleet of branded taxis across the UK equipped with QR codes that will direct passengers to The No7 Beauty Knowledge for application tips when they are on the go.
