Three-quarters of the nation have admitted to feeling happier after a great night out, according to new research.

The research, commissioned to celebrate ‘Get Britain Dancing!’ – a free nationwide night out this Friday – discovered that the benefits of a great night out go further than just the night itself with Brits feeling the buzz for days after.

The nightclub experts at Stonegate Group have also discovered that following Adele (54%), Idris Elba (41%) and David Beckham (37%) are the nation’s dream celebs to go on a night out with.

Some surprise additions to the top ten include the likes of money saving expert Martin Lewis (29%) and national treasures David Attenborough (27%) and Stephen Fry (24%), who provide more of a sophisticated touch to the average night out.

While out in town, us Brits are very particular with what music we do and don’t like to dance to, with Barbie Girl (65%) topping the charts for all the wrong reasons as the top song that the public want ousting from the club as Brits tell Barbie to bore off!

Closely behind, Rednex’s Cotton Eye Joe (43%) and Justin Bieber’s infamous Baby (41%) track are two more tunes for the tip.

Swifties look away! As two-thirds of young people have also opted to bin off Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off (67%), more than any other tune, potentially signifying the end is near for Swiftageddon as Gen Z label 50 Cent’s In Da Club as their favourite club anthem
(71%).

However, on the topic of the nation’s favourite going out tunes, Mamma Mia is the firm favourite (59%), finishing top, leaving Black Eye Peas’ I Gotta Feeling (50%) and David Guetta’s Titanium (44%) in the dust.

But the nation’s love of a night out doesn’t just revolve around dancing to their favourite songs, one in ten (10%) Brits actually had their first kiss on a night out.

This data comes as one in three (33%) now experience love at first sight by meeting a former or current partner in a club for the very first time, showing just how important a part nightclubs play in love stories across the UK.

David McDowall, CEO of Stonegate Group, said: “At Stonegate, we’re all about good times and great company. Whether it’s hitting the dancefloor, enjoying great music, or just having a laugh with friends, we want our venues to be the place where people come together
and enjoy themselves.

“Popworld, Flares and Walkabout are staples of a classic night out in the UK, and with ‘Get Britain Dancing,’ we’re making it easier than ever for people to have fun, be themselves and get dancing in some of the best late-night venues in the country.”

To celebrate Britain’s love of going out clubbing, Stonegate’s late-night venues will host a groundbreaking ‘free’ night out on Friday 21st February. Named ‘Get Britain Dancing’, the first event starts tomorrow and will return on the third Friday of every month
to keep the nation dancing!

This will run throughout 79 of Stonegate’s late-night venues, including Popworld and Walkabouts up and down the country. All 79 venues will throw open their doors at no entry free for an epic night out designed to get the UK out for an unforgettable night out.

To make it even more special, guests can enjoy free entry all night and two free drinks (one before 11pm and another at 1am via the MiXR app), ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of a great night out with their mates.
