‘The Square’ returns to Bristol for the festive season
The Square returns this winter for a Christmas pop-up like no other in Bristol for friends and family alike. This time around an Après Ski Bar, interactive light show aptly named Submergence, BUMP Roller Disco, free film screenings on We The Curious Big Screen Bristol, Christmas tipi’s and more all confirmed. Food comes from kitchen kings Pepe Nero bringing sustainable ingredients and ideology. The Square will be launching November 15th and running through to January 5th with dedicated Christmas events throughout December at Millennium Square.
Submergence by Squidsoup will be a free immersive and interactive art installation popping up on Millennium Square. The piece uses many thousands of individual points of suspended light to create feelings of presence and movement within a physical space. Squidsoup is a digital arts group specialising in interactive installations within physical 3D space. The work combines sound, light, physical space and virtual worlds to produce alluring and emotive headspaces.
Jon Ojo, Operations Manager of Pure Spaces says “Pure Spaces are delighted to be working with We The Curious again to create Winter at the Square. After the success of the Bristol Beach Club and Apres bar, we’re coming back bigger and better for the people of Bristol over the festive period. Our good friends Bump Roller Disco will be back on the square to offer a more sustainable alternative to the ice rink of previous years. We have lots of great surprises in store and can’t wait to get going!”
An alternative winter activity is BUMP Rollerdisco, returning to Millennium Square with the upcycled mobile roller rink, giving Bristol a more sustainable option for skating. BUMP Rollerdisco will welcome the whole family for festive sparkle and vibes and also offers rollerskating classes alongside skate with Santa sessions, weekly disabled sessions, Christmas drinks from the Disco Ball Bar and a Charity BUMP Roller Contest for those keen to show off their skating skills.
