Health Tech Enterprise marks 21 years with employee share ownership and new leadership structure
Health Tech Enterprise has announced a new ownership structure designed to strengthen employee participation in the business and support its long-term growth plans as it enters its 21st year.
The NHS market access, health economics and technology commercialisation consultancy will continue to operate under the Health Tech Enterprise brand, with no changes to its services, client relationships or day-to-day operations.
The new structure sees co-founders Anne Blackwood and Max Bardwell remain at the helm of the business, alongside a third co-founder who will take on the role of Director of Technology Commercialisation.
As part of the transition, Health Tech Enterprise has introduced an employee share option pool, giving team members the opportunity to benefit directly from the company’s future success. The move reflects the organisation’s commitment to recognising the contribution of its people while supporting recruitment, retention and future growth.
The change has been planned as part of the company’s long-term strategy and creates a platform for the next stage of development, while maintaining continuity for clients and partners.
In addition, the new board will be supported by an NHS Advisory Board comprising representatives from NHS organisations that work with Health Tech Enterprise. The board will help ensure client perspectives continue to inform the company’s direction and strengthen its close relationships across the healthcare innovation ecosystem.
Founded in 2004, Health Tech Enterprise has established a strong reputation for supporting innovators, healthcare organisations and industry partners with market access, health economics, commercialisation and scale up strategies.
Over the past two decades, the company has worked with NHS organisations and health technology businesses across the UK and internationally to accelerate the development and uptake of healthcare innovation.
Dr Anne Blackwood, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Health Tech Enterprise, said:
“As we enter our 21st year, this feels like the natural next step in our evolution. Our success has always been built on the expertise, commitment and passion of our team, and we wanted a structure that reflects that contribution while supporting our future ambitions.”
“Importantly, this is not a change in direction. Our clients will continue to work with the same trusted team and receive the same high-quality support they have come to expect. What changes is that more people within the business now have the opportunity to share in the value we create together.”
Kevin McDonnell, Chair of Health Tech Enterprise, said:
“Health Tech Enterprise has built an impressive business over the past two decades, combining deep knowledge of the NHS with the commercial expertise needed to help healthcare innovations succeed. This new structure gives us a strong foundation for the next stage of growth while protecting the qualities and relationships that have made the company successful.
“Giving employees a greater stake in the future of the business is an important part of that. It recognises the contribution of the team and ensures that, as Health Tech Enterprise grows, the people helping to drive that growth can share in its success.”
The new ownership structure took effect from the 1 August 2026.
