BARRATT LONDON LAUNCHES DISCOUNTED HOMES FOR HARROW RESIDENTS
New research revealed that only about 12.5% of first-time buyers can afford to buy an average starter home in their local area based on their own income. In response to this, Barratt London is partnering with Harrow Council to offer Discount Market Sale (DMS) at Florence Apartments in Eastman Village. Designed to make it more accessible for local residents to purchase their first home, DMS will allow potential buyers to purchase a brand-new home at Florence Apartments for at least 20% less than the open market value.
Prospective buyers at Florence Apartments will have the choice of 60 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and the opportunity to move into an already thriving new neighbourhood at Eastman Village. Once complete, the development will deliver more than 2,000 homes, offering residents access to a range of exclusive amenities including a concierge service, residents’ gym and community spaces. The wider neighbourhood also benefits from the Green Link park, as well as convenient shopping with Asda and Sainsbury’s nearby.
James Holmear, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt London said: “DMS is a first at our Eastman Village development aimed at people in Harrow and the surrounding areas who want to get on the property ladder but may find it difficult to buy on the open market. As a housebuilder, we want to ensure that we are going beyond building homes and creating opportunities where local residents have a greater chance of getting on the ladder. For many Londoners, affordability is the greatest obstacle to owning a home. DMS makes home ownership more accessible by enabling purchasers to buy 100% of a property for only 80% of its open market value.
The development has been carefully planned to encourage healthier lifestyles, with more than six acres of green open space, landscaped gardens, over 900 newly planted trees, extensive cycle storage and pedestrian-friendly streets creating an attractive environment for residents of all ages.
The nearby Harrow & Wealdstone station will provide residents with fast rail services into central London, reaching Euston in around 10 minutes, while also connecting residents to destinations across the capital.
The development also continues to attract families looking to put down roots in one of London’s strongest-performing boroughs for education. A planned on-site primary school, alongside a number of highly regarded local schools, makes Eastman Village an increasingly popular choice for buyers looking beyond central London.
Holmear continues: “At Eastman Village, we’re seeing continued demand from first-time buyers, young professionals and families for homes that offer more than just a place to live. The Florence Apartments brings together excellent connectivity, quality design, green surroundings and a growing sense of community, making it an attractive choice for those looking in the Harrow area.”
Eastman Village is a joint venture between Barratt London & Hyde Group and part of a larger £1.75bn improvement scheme in Harrow, which will include two new schools, 3,000 jobs, shops, leisure facilities and commercial space.
Homes at Florence Apartments at Eastman Village are now available, with prices for a one-bedroom home starting from £271,000.
