Onóra on Capel Street, Dublin will open this October, a new all-day neighbourhood restaurant developed by The July in partnership with Dublin hospitality group Bereen Brothers, who are bringing their restaurant experience north of the Liffey for the very first time. The partnership combines The July’s successful approach to contemporary hospitality with more than two decades of restaurant experience from Conor and Marc Bereen, whose portfolio includes Coppinger, Orwell Road, Row Wines and Charlotte Quay. Bereen Brothers, working closely with the team at The July, are helping to shape Onóra’s food and drink direction, service style and approach to Irish hospitality, with a shared ambition to create a restaurant that feels firmly rooted in Dublin.

“Developing Onóra in partnership with The July has allowed us to introduce their team to the incredible culinary scene we have here in Dublin, and across the island,” explains Marc. “Our shared vision is to create a great restaurant that adds something to the city’s dining culture – defined by exceptional produce, simple food, perfect execution and genuine hospitality. A place where locals and visitors come together and everyone belongs.”

Leading the kitchen at Onóra will be Northern Ireland-born Head Chef Lauren Shimmin, working closely with The July and the Bereen Brothers team to bring the restaurant’s food philosophy to life. Lunch and dinner menus at Onóra will be a celebration of Irish produce through a European lens, from the sea and the land to the changing seasons. Nothing appears on the menu because it is fashionable. Everything appears because it is delicious. At lunch, dishes will range from salt cod croquettes and mussels with fries to roast porchetta with salsa verde. As evening falls, the menu moves towards dishes such as Carlingford oysters with shallot vinaigrette, silky tagliolini with sweet crab, chilli and lemon and whole grilled brill with capers and brown butter. After dinner, the music turns up and plates make way for late evening drinks. Classic and signature cocktails will sit alongside a carefully chosen wine list sourced from small local distributors while Whiplash Brewery will pour on tap.

When it comes to the interiors, every element of Onóra is being curated to complement the food, evolving throughout the day and contributing to the relaxed, social atmosphere. The design of Onóra and The July Dublin has been a collaboration between The July’s in-house team, led by Dublin native and Head of Design Caitriona McGachy, and the award winning interior studio Fettle. Nods to Irish designer Eileen Gray and a curated collection of local artwork further root the property in Dublin’s creative community.

Sustainability is also woven into the fabric of the building, which holds a BREEAM Excellent certification. This means 100% all electric energy, solar power, and non-toxic materials throughout.

General Manager of The July Dublin Melanie Nocher says:
“Capel Street has such a distinctive soul, energy, and rich history, making it the perfect home for Onóra at The July. We didn’t want to create just another hotel or another hotel restaurant; we wanted to build a genuine neighbourhood destination where guests and locals naturally come together – creating a space that feels comfortable, effortless, and alive from day one.”
