A series of NEW openings this November: New spa, cottages and Estate House to open at the SCHLOSS Roxburghe
SCHLOSS Roxburghe will be welcoming an extensive expansion this November with the opening of the new Estate House, hosting an additional 58 rooms and a purpose-built banqueting suite, extensive spa facilities and several cottages across the grounds. The historic estate in the Scottish Borders, previously owned by the Duke of Roxburghe, underwent a full refurbishment in 2019 and this exciting new expansion for the hotel is just one of a series of new planned additions.
Estate House
The opening of the Estate House in November will bring an additional 58 additional rooms to the hotel, more than doubling the current room capacity of 20. The rooms will bring modern comfort and have some of the finest views of the estate. Guests will be able to enjoy their own private balcony and sink into the comfort of a luxurious four-poster bed.
As in the main manor house, the Estate House welcomes dogs. Dog owners are able to book rooms to accommodate themselves and their four-legged friend, with individual dog baskets and homemade dog treats provided. There will also be a purpose-built banqueting facility with a capacity of over 120, featuring floor to ceiling windows and views over the golf course.
SCHLOSS Spa
A new 1100sqm spa facility will also be opening in November as part of the expansion, including a heated outdoor infinity edge pool complete with LED lighting and underwater speaker sound system, both indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, an additional plunge pool and a fitness suite. There will also be three treatment rooms and an embedded Finnish dry sauna. The sauna sits half-sunken into the ground bringing it to ground level from the outside and is complete with a Larch exterior finish and large landscape windows to enjoy the views. There will also be an aromatic sauna with the option to release your very own aromatic fragrance for a truly individual experience. The spa’s holistic approach will go beyond simply treating the body and focus on general wellbeing, mindfulness and rejuvenation. The spa will be open for both guests and local members to enjoy.
Cottages
Additional accommodation options will be available to guests from November, with the opening of 12 new cottages – set in the beautiful woodland on the SCHLOSS Roxburghe estate. The two bedroom self-catering cottages are just a stone’s throw away from the extraordinary activities available across the resort, perfect for small golfing groups who want to head to the Championship Golf Course straight away.
The cottages offer a greater sense of privacy and space, and so also make a great option for families. Some even have their own private saunas to enjoy. 49 additional cottages, a mixture of one bed and two bed, will be added to the collection over the next couple of years, with the final cottages to be complete in 2024.
Charlie’s Restaurant
Tastefully designed, with a magnificent terrace, the new restaurant Charlie’s will offer ‘Scottish bistronomy’ at its finest. The Bistronomy notion originated in France, and is based on enjoying great food in a relaxed and informal setting, while using the highest quality ingredients and gourmet cooking techniques. “Scottish Bistronomy” was born from the hotel’s desire to create a concept which showcases the finest produce and ingredients the Scottish Borders have to offer, with a holistic approach to the “Estate to plate” philosophy.
Shooting Centre – 10 new traps
The Shooting Centre has undergone a refurbishment and has now reopened with 10 new traps for guests to try. Located in the attractive rolling parkland of the SCHLOSS Roxburghe, the centre is an excellent learning environment for both novice and expert shots. The traditional skill game of clay pigeon shooting tests hand eye coordination and reaction speed and has proven to provide a number of benefits on physical and mental wellbeing including balance, muscle strengthening and improved mental health.
