A young person from Grimsby has braved the shave by having his flowing locks chopped

A young person from Grimsby has braved the shave by having his flowing locks chopped, all for two grateful charities.

Joel Gibbs, 21, had been growing his hair for over four years but decided to head for a titanic trim and support both the hospice and the Little Princess Trust.

Before the shave, Joel’s hair flowed down his back but now he is sporting a freshly-trimmed crew cut.

Joel undertook fundraising for the hospice as part of the shave with the excess hair going to the Little Princess Trust, who provide real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults up to the age of 24 that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

“We are extremely proud of what Joel has done,” said his parents, Andy and Louise.

“The Little Princess Trust can benefit from the hair for wig making and the money raised will go to the hospice.

“Joel set a modest fundraising target but, with the support of family and friends, he has absolutely smashed through that mark and the total raised currently stands at over £1,500!

“He’s got a big heart and it’s great to know that he will be bringing so much joy to his two chosen charities.”

Local hairdresser Jo Topliss donated her time to shave Joel’s hair – 13 inches in total. He is pictured both before and after his shave.
