Adult Social Care funding welcomed by London Councils
While overall the Budget failed to address London government’s long term needs there was some welcome funding in the immediate term for adult social care.
The Chancellor’s announcement of £240 million for adult social care, on top of existing funds already announced to meet winter pressures, is expected to result in London boroughs receiving around £37 million extra each year.
Cllr Ray Puddifoot MBE, London Councils Executive member for health and care, said: “The government is right to boost adult social care funding. There are challenges facing adult social care provision across London, and boroughs will welcome this much-needed investment.
“We look forward to the publication of the government’s green paper on adult social care so that we can get on with planning for the future of these crucial services.”
