AECOM, the trusted global infrastructure leader, has bolstered its London team with two new appointments to support an anticipated increase in infrastructure investment and development across the capital.
Alex Hammerton has been appointed head of project management after more than a decade with the business. He has led major residential and mixed-use developments for prominent national developers and housing associations, including new homes at Canada Water and the prestigious Serpentine Pavillion.
Alex will lead a team of 145 colleagues as he takes responsibility for service delivery, client partnerships and growth across projects spanning commercial and residential development, corporate fit-out, arts and culture, government programmes, healthcare, science, tertiary education, and masterplans.
At the same time, Aled Jenkins has joined the Cost Management team, as Regional Director to further reinforce and strengthen the growing cost team in London.
He joins AECOM from Mace as a chartered quantity surveyor, with 24 years’ experience working with major businesses from Canary Wharf Group to Netflix, Live Nation and Four Seasons. Aled will join the senior leadership of the London cost management team, which comprises more than 130 colleagues, with a focus on strategic business development, nurturing client relationships on key accounts and enhancing the team’s capabilities.
AECOM’s programme, project and cost management team is responsible for some of London’s most significant schemes. It is the cost manager for One Undershaft, which will become the tallest tower in the City, and is also the quantity surveyor and employer’s agent on the City of London Corporation’s Salisbury Square, which is due for completion in 2026.
Scott Motley, UK head of programme, project and cost management (PPC) at AECOM, said: “Clients and developers in London and beyond are seeking novel solutions to bring ambitious projects forward efficiently and at speed. Sticky inflation and high interest rates mean there is little room for error in project budgets and it’s essential that schemes are managed effectively to accelerate delivery.
“Alex and Aled both bring a wealth of experience, technical expertise and a proven track record of delivering for clients to their new roles as we look forward to advising on more of London’s landmark developments in the coming years.”
