Alex McGowan Steps Down as Chief Executive at The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh

The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh’s joint Chief Executive, Alex McGowan, is to leave The Lyceum after 8 years in post to take up the role of joint Chief Executive of the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow in Spring 2019.

Shonaig Macpherson CBE, FRSE, DUniv, Board Chair, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh thanked Alex for all his work for the company saying: “Alex has been Executive Director and joint Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company in Edinburgh since 2010. In this time he has worked closely with Artistic Directors Mark Thomson and subsequently David Greig to manage significant funding challenges, deliver a critically acclaimed programme of award-winning shows and expand The Lyceum’s celebrated work with Edinburgh’s communities and young people.”

The statement added “The Board are grateful to Alex for his valuable contribution in the past eight years and in particular for his help in bringing into reality David’s new artistic vision for The Lyceum in his highly successful first seasons as Artistic Director”

Alex will take up his new role at the Citizens Theatre in spring 2019, and The Lyceum have begun the process to recruit his successor.
