ALL IN A ‘PLAY’S’ WORK AS HOUSEBUILDER UNVEILS BRAND NEW PLAY AREA IN STRETTON

Leading Cheshire housebuilder Barratt Homes has opened the gates to a brand new play area for the local community to enjoy at its development in Stretton.

The play area is located at Kings Quarter on Parkstone Drive, and features a variety of equipment for children to use and enjoy. The equipment includes seesaws, swings and climbing frames amongst others, and is built with wood to blend in with the development’s idyllic surroundings.

The developer celebrated when Kings Quarter sold out earlier this year and the site has now been handed over to the local council.

Along with its sister site, Saviours Place, construction began in early 2019 and is delivering 180 homes to the community. The developments’ show homes were launched later that year, with a ribbon cutting by the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Wendy Johnson.

Kings Quarter has had its fair share of visits from dignitaries, including a visit from Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in 2020 as part of a government discussion on planning reform. The properties on Parkstone Drive are part of Homes England’s Accelerated Construction Programme which aims to deliver new homes across the country using Advanced Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).

The development has brought significant investment to Warrington. As part of the planning agreement, Barratt Homes is contributing over £1.5 million to the local authority, with money going towards health care, leisure centres, transport and education.

Neil Goodwin, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “We are not only committed to building quality new homes in the area, but also to creating a new community within our developments and our new play area is a great example of this.

“With family homes and local schools nearby, it’s important that we provide open spaces and play areas such as this so that the existing community and the new development can interact with each other and take advantage of this new space.

“We also want our residents to have peace of mind knowing their children have somewhere to play close to their home. We hope that residents of all ages will enjoy this facility for many years to come.”

Barratt Homes is currently building in Cheshire at J One Seven in Sandbach, Silk Waters Green in Macclesfield, Dane View in Northwich and Orchard Meadows in Appleton.
