Avery Healthcare Achieves 5-Star Rating for Food Standards Across All Southern Care Homes
Avery Healthcare has achieved a remarkable 5-star rating for food standards from the Environmental Health Officers (EHO) across all its Avery Collection care homes in the South of England.
The Avery Collection is a series of premium care homes in the South of England, providing high-quality living environments and exceptional dining experiences for residents.
These homes were previously owned by Signature before being acquired by Avery Healthcare in 2023.
This commendation comes from the EHO following unannounced inspections of all 29 homes, stretching from East Essex to West Hampshire, which took place from June 2023 to September 2024.
The 5-star rating is the highest level awarded by the EHO, underscoring Avery Healthcare’s commitment to public health and safety.
Over the past year, Avery Healthcare has heavily invested in state-of-the-art commercial kitchens and has prioritised recruiting highly qualified professional staff.
Led by Simon Lawrence, Director of Culinary and Hospitality at Avery Healthcare, and Greg Simmonds, Senior Regional Culinary Manager at Avery Healthcare, the organisation has built a culture of excellence in hygiene and food safety.
Avery’s culinary teams have also earned recognition for their dedication, winning the Care Home Award for Best Food Nutrition and Dining Services in both 2022 and 2023.
Simon Lawrence expressed his admiration for the hard work and resilience of the Culinary Teams, stating, “In what has been a challenging time for the industry, it is testament to the Hospitality Managers and Recruitment Team in bringing in such fantastic additions to the current team.”
He emphasised the importance of maintaining high food hygiene and safety standards when serving vulnerable residents.

The focus now shifts to sustaining this achievement over the next year, as Avery aims to maintain its high ratings through continued dedication and oversight.
