Band of Britney superfans descended on the capital while identically dressed in outfits inspired by Britney’s iconic stewardess look
To celebrate the UK launch of Britney Spears’ new memoir, The Woman in Me, (available to buy today: October 24th 2023), a band of Britney superfans turned heads as the group descended on the capital while identically dressed in outfits inspired by Britney’s iconic stewardess look from the famous Toxic music video.
The Woman in Me is the most hotly anticipated memoir in the history of pop, and to mark its release, a collection of British ‘Britneys’ ventured on a head-turning whistle-stop tour of London before grabbing their very own copies of Britney’s book from Waterstones Piccadilly.
The superfans hit the streets of the capital’s major sites, bringing some LA glamour to Piccadilly Circus, South Bank, Parliament Square and surrounding areas in their unmistakable Britney-inspired outfits, much to the bemusement of commuters and baffled onlookers.
On her website, the Baby One More Time singer revealed that her new book is a “brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope.”
In a press release introducing the book, publishers Simon & Schuster UK say, “The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey – and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history.”
Corene Campbel, a Britney superfan who joined the group to celebrate the book’s release, said, “I’m so proud of Britney, she’s been through a lot and the press have always talked so much about her so now it’s time for people to hear the story directly from the woman herself.
“This is about Britney, and everyone likes to talk about her but nobody knows the true story – now it’s her time to shine and share her story on her terms.”
Britney mania has swept across the UK in anticipation of the book’s release with a Britney-inspired silent disco taking place in Europe’s largest bookshop, Waterstones Piccadilly, later today. (8pm, Tuesday 24th October) and a Britney-themed panel discussion to be hosted tomorrow at the Feminist Book Club.
