BIG TIME SPORTING ENTERTAINMENT COMES TO LONDON AS BIGGEST CLUB RUGBY MATCH RETURNS FOR ITS 15TH YEAR
The world’s biggest club rugby event returns to London on Saturday, 30th
December as Big Game 15 is set to light up the post-Christmas gloom with pulsating back-to-back rugby matches, family entertainment and world-class performances.
Families and fun seekers looking for a unique experience to keep the Christmas celebrations going will be flocking to the home of rugby for an action-packed
day out, with the main event seeing Women’s and Men’s teams face off against Gloucester-Hartpury and Gloucester Rugby respectively.
With both clubs being renowned for their physical, attacking style of play, festive fans will get the chance to see high quality rugby teams at their best,
and enjoy world-class entertainment as part of an all-day event.
To kick off the action, all eyes will be on the women’s match where Harlequins aim to break the world record for the highest attendance for a women’s
club rugby match with a target of 20,000 fans set to create the perfect end-of-year celebration for another landmark year for women’s sport.
Big Game is renowned for putting on a show and this year, Harlequins is keeping it loud with best-selling DJ Joel Corry performing live on the pitch between
the exciting rugby encounters. With 2.5 billion streams and five top 10 singles to his name, Joel Corry follows in the footsteps of musical royalty, with previous Harlequins events at Twickenham Stadium having hosted global DJs Pete Tong, Faithless and Kaiser
Chiefs.
And the fun doesn’t stop there, with Big Game 15 set to host thrilling pyro and laser shows, live music inside and outside the stadium and even free fairground
rides for all the family to enjoy. For the foodies out there, Big Game 15 will see the return of the West Fan Village which will once again be packed with loads of food and drink stalls, with options to suit every taste.
Commenting on the return of Big Game and her team’s clash with Gloucester-Hartpury, Harlequins Women’s and England Red Roses fullback Ellie Kildunne said:
“I am over the moon that Big Game 15 has moved back to the festive period. We love playing our rugby in front of big crowds and our match against Gloucester-Hartpury this year is looking to be our biggest yet.”
“We had a record-breaking crowd for Big Game 14 and we are backing ourselves to go bigger this year, keeping the momentum and delivering an electric performance
in front of another record crowd at the home of English rugby. “
Harlequins Men’s fly-half and England star Marcus Smith added: “Big Game is that time in the year every Quins fan and player looks forward to and growing
up it was a game that I always really wanted to be involved in. This will be my fifth Big Game and I can’t wait to walk out onto the pitch and experience the festive atmosphere of 80,000 fans packed in Twickenham.”
