Bolt reveals Brits post-lockdown plans as they commit to reconnecting loved ones
Ride-hailing app Bolt will be offering free rides to users on Saturday 4th July as lockdown measures ease across the UK after 14 long weeks, in an effort to help Londoners reunite with their loved ones.
The move comes as research, carried out by Bolt, reveals seeing family (63 per cent) and friends (56 per cent) top the list of Brits’ post-lockdown plans. Two-thirds (60 per cent) claimed that being in lockdown has made them appreciate their families more.
Unsurprisingly, getting a much-needed haircut (40 per cent) and a trip to the pub (28 per cent) are also high up on the list of activities Brits are most looking forward to post-lockdown, whilst only one in ten were excited to return to the gym (14 per cent) and even less to return to the office (7 per cent).
The survey also revealed that three in ten Brits have barely left their home since the restrictions began, with the average Brit travelling no more than 20 miles during lockdown.
With so much time spent close to home, 60 per cent of Brits said they had explored more local businesses in the past 14 weeks. More than half (52 per cent) have also committed to continuing to support local businesses after lockdown, with 32 per cent having already identified a local pub, café or restaurant they would like to try out.
Alternative travel arrangements have also become the norm during lockdown, with 43 per cent of Brits admitting they’ve learnt they can walk to a lot of places they used to use public transport to get to. This shift in mindset is also set to continue, with almost half (43 per cent) stating the way they travel will change when safe to get out again.
With measures being slowly lifted further in the UK, Bolt, the leading European on-demand transportation platform, will be offering 1000 free rides (at a maximum cost of £15) to be used this weekend to users at random who are registered with the service by 15:00 on Friday 3rd July.
For everyone else, Bolt will be creating a 20% discount code for the upcoming weekend (applicable to 20,000 rides on a first-come, first-served basis for up to two rides per user and a maximum saving of £10 per ride), which can be found on Saturday morning on Bolt’s official UK Instagram page (@bolt_uk).
Following the announcement, Bolt’s UK country manager Sam Raciti said, “There’s no doubting that everyone’s looking forward to London living regaining a sense of normalcy this weekend, myself included. Now more than ever, our intention is to provide an affordable, convenient way for riders to go out and enjoy themselves in the London we all love.”
