Bond Ambition! Aston Martin And Audi Top Brits Dream Car List

New research commissioned by online car marketplace YesAuto shows that Brits dream car is a black sports car, preferably an Audi or Aston Martin, and they spend over 13 hours a year daydreaming about it. A fifth (23%) of the nation has also spent time browsing online to find out how much supercars cost, just in case they happen to win the lottery or come into a fortune.

The study of 2,000 drivers by YesAuto also found that the majority of Brits (52%) think their ideal car is a dream rather than a reality, believing that they won’t make the purchase until they are 47 years old. Only one sixth (17%) of adults have already been able to purchase their dream car, while others are owning a more practical or affordable alternative in the meantime.

Drivers in the UK insisted on ‘basic’ luxuries when purchasing their perfect vehicle, with heated seats (43%) and built-in satnav (44%) coming out on top. Other desirable components of the ideal car include anti-theft technology (37%), 360-degree camera (34%) and self-parking (29%).

The top five luxury car brands Brits voted they’d most liked to own are:

Aston Martin
Audi
BMW
Mercedes
Range Rover

The study also found that if money was no object, 60 per cent would prefer a brand-new luxury car over a perfectly restored classic one.

Those aged 25-34 are the most adventurous with their dream car – with 18 per cent choosing to have ‘go faster’ stripes, an eighth opting for flames, and 15 per cent wanting lightning bolts or ocean waves.

The research also revealed that, when in their twenties, Brits are most likely to own a supermini or saloon car. While in their thirties a hatchback or an estate are popular choices. Upon reaching the big 4-0 Brits are more likely to opt for an SUV or people carrier.
Neil You, General Manager at YesAuto UK, which commissioned the survey, said: “Daydreaming about the cars we’d like to own one day is something British drivers love to do, and with the features we have on the site, including our Virtual Showroom exploring those dream vehicles has never been easier. Our survey results also show that almost a quarter of people surveyed said they would consider leasing a car if it meant they could have their ideal car sooner. At YesAuto we know buying a car can be a significant investment, so we have recently broadened our services to offer new exclusive leasing deals for people who want a new car, without the commitment of actually having to purchase it outright. This flexibility gives drivers the opportunity to make their dream car purchase an actual reality.”

YesAuto quickly and easily connects buyers with dealers across the country virtually, with over 157,000 luxury and affordable vehicles available from 2157 retailers. The online marketplace has now partnered with one of the UK’s biggest car leasing platforms to add more than 170,000 new car leasing deals to its existing platform.
