BOURTON MEADOW ACADEMY PUPIL UNVEILS BEDROOM SHE DESIGNED AT ST RUMBOLD’S FIELDS
Local housebuilder David Wilson Homes has partnered with Bourton Meadow Academy and held a design competition amongst its pupils in Year 6. The children were asked to design their dream bedrooms and the winning design was used as an inspiration for an actual bedroom at the new show home at the housebuilder’s St Rumbold’s Fields development, which is only two miles from the school.
The winner of the competition was a pupil named Amber (11), who aspires to one day become an interior designer herself. Amber’s design was inspired by the jungles and features jungle wallpaper, ceiling wooden beams and dreamcatchers. Alongside the opportunity to see her vision come to life, Amber also won a £25 voucher and was the first person to visit the new show home.
Amber comments: “I want to become an interior designer one day, and I was so excited to take part in the bedroom design competition. It’s a brilliant feeling seeing my design in real life at St Rumbold’s Fields.”
The show home was designed by award-winning company Artspace, who used Amber’s moodboard as an inspiration for one of the children’s bedrooms. The final look featured rattan headboards, elephant table lamps and a lion rug, and wallpaper with leaves that echoed Amber’s original wall design.
Lydia Graham, Client Service Manager at Artspace Interiors comments: “We really wanted to keep the general feel and the idea that Amber had in mind. We used a neutral palette throughout and added splashes of colour using different jungle themed elements such as wood elements, toys, and stickers.”
Karly Williams, Sales and Marketing Director at David Wilson North Thames, adds: “All the entries we have received from pupils at Bourton Meadow Academy were fantastic, and it was very difficult to choose a winner! Amber’s design is creative and fun, and we are excited to finally unveil her creation thanks to the hard work from Artspace Interiors.
“As our new show home demonstrates, St Rumbold’s Fields offers plenty of adaptable space – ideal for creating a home to suit all homebuyers, whether they need a home office or a kid’s playroom. We hope this show home will showcase how versatile our homes can be.”
