Brad Pitt’s Make it Right Foundation Needs to Make It Right
“When you’re dealing with frauds and liars, listen more to what they don’t say than what they do.” ― DaShanne Stokes
The entertainment world is filled with drama inside and outside thestudios. From Adam Levine’s cheating allegations to Leonardo de Caprio’s girlfriend stigma, it’s as if the entire industry is home toentertainers who mock themselves, even after working so hard. But in Brad Pitt’s case, negligence turned into allegations. Brad Pitt is everything you want to see in an actor, an eye candy, an impeccable entertainer, and a “self-proclaimed” humanitarian. Why self-proclaimed? Well, he started his non-profit organization, Make It Right Foundation, which did anything but right.
The said organization started with a vision to provide environmental-friendly homes to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. At least, it started that way. It was a much-needed endeavor, given that over 400,000 people were left homeless, and 1,800 died due to the catastrophe. Unfortunately, the star had a different idea in mind, which was revealed to the world by Kelli Christina. Initially, Kelli got caught in the crossfire when a Brad Pitt lookalike conned her into giving money on a marriage promise. This was until later when she found out the true story.
Although that Brad Pitt lookalike was impersonating the Fight Club actor, his response wasn’t what anybody expected. It also shows the cruelty the world continues to tolerate, with people taking advantage of the unfortunate for personal gain. Instead of taking action against the con artist, the “actor-extraordinaire” took his frustrations out on Kelli Christina. Yes, Kelli was a victim in this story, but she highlights a more pressing matter that Brad Pitt and the Make ItRight Foundation refuse to acknowledge. Kelli believes that they took donations from the generous citizens of the United States but didn’t do justice to the fans. That’s when she filed a lawsuit against Brad Pitt. The basis of the lawsuit was focused on the negligence claims and the years of ignoring Kelli Christina’s attempt to communicate with him and his team. She reached out to Brad Pitt, Make it Right, Plan B Entertainment, and his attorneys to address the fan problems back-dated to the fall of 2018. She only asked one thing, “Why weren’t problems handled and investigated seriously for the fans?”
Pitt’s brainchild was meant to help people displaced and rendered homeless by Hurricane Katrina. Starting in 2008, the actor’s construction company reportedly constructed 109 energy-efficient homes built by some of the world’s greatest architects like Shigeru Ban, Thom Mayne, and Frank Gehry. Sadly, he didn’t live up to those expectations, and the donations reached a dead-end. Kelli’s accusations weren’t inaccurate because, reportedly, despite the work undertaken by these well-known architects, most new residents encountered different issues in their new homes. They found black mold, water leaks, and even foundation issues. In 2018, Kelli advocated fixing the housing issues with Brad Pitt’s Make It Right, and it’s future in this country. She would then proceed to have her generous heart taken of advantage of and spend 40,000 on donations and appearance fees when Brad Pitt never showed up in Texas.
When these matters were revealed to the press, leading a lawsuit against Brad Pitt, the Hollywood star denied involvement and accused Kelli of false claims. Despite many efforts to cover the matter, the reality continued to sting the stakeholders. Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation and Plan B Entertainment resorted to a catfish scam and tried to cover it up through name-calling. Kelli was victimized in a manner that she didn’t deserve. Still, instead of reacting in the same or an uncivil manner, she responded professionally.
Kelli Christina is an international best-selling author, CEO, public speaker, and business coach. She is also one of the most influential people in Hollywood. So, talking back to Brad Pitt is not something a woman of her stature could afford, but she has always made the betterment of society her top priority. The “never give up” attitude that Kelli teaches her students (network and team) speaks volumes of her greatness as a compassionate human being.
It took almost a decade for this matter to come to light against Brad Pitt and the Make It Right Foundation. The real question is, “why didn’t he do justice to his fans?” These fans have supported the actor constantly, and most continue to do so. If this is the case, it’s Brad’s responsibility to come up and own up to his mistake. Kelli’s struggles don’t involve her as a person; she wants the world to see what the Fight Club actor has perpetrated. Correcting his mistake shouldn’t be a problem for Brad Pitt. After all, he has been the hottest property in Hollywood for the last 30 years.
