BrewDog and Too Good To Go launch partnership to help save beer

Multinational brewery and bar chain, BrewDog, is the latest global brand to partner with Too Good To Go, the food app with a conscience, to rescue surplus beer.

Each month, the UK’s pub industry sees on average 3,200,000 pints* go to waste as a result of line cleaning alone. And, as a result of Covid lockdowns, the volume of beer going to waste has increased. This is something that Too Good To Go and BrewDog are hoping to change, so that perfectly good beer and cider is enjoyed, not wasted.

The collaboration means an initial 10 BrewDog sites are now live on the Too Good To Go app, where users can rescue surplus beer and cider. Every time each bar does its weekly line-clean, the draught pints that need to be emptied will, instead of going to waste, be decanted into crowlers for Too Good To Go users to collect the following day. App users will also be able to rescue Magic Bags of short-dated cans and bottles.

The intention is for the partnership to be rolled out nationwide in the coming months.

On the collaboration, Paschalis Loucaides, UK Country Manager of Too Good To Go, said: “BrewDog is a brand known for doing things differently and we’re thrilled that they have decided to fight beer waste with us. Partnerships are vital in helping us achieve our ambitions of a planet with no food waste, and having BrewDog join our community of Waste Warrior brands proves how important fighting food waste is for tackling climate change. Together we can do so much and I’m excited to see where our collaboration with BrewDog will take us.”

Martin Keith, head of customer experience at BrewDog stated “We’re really excited to partner with Too Good To Go on this initiative. It takes an incredible amount of hard work and raw ingredients to make beer and get into people’s hands, it’s crazy to think that a large portion of that doesn’t make it into the glass. BrewDog bars invest heavily in state of the art cellar equipment which helps us make sure as little of our beer is wasted as possible. It is however, impossible to eliminate all waste so we are delighted this beer can now get into the hands of beer lovers via the Too Good To Go app.”

The 10 sites live on the Too Good To Go app are:

Shepherds Bush
Camden
Shoreditch
Dalston
Brixton
York
Clapham
Birmingham
Manchester Outpost
Norwich

Too Good To Go lets people buy surplus food and drink from pubs, restaurants, retailers and producers to stop it from going to waste. Consumers simply download the free Too Good To Go app and search for nearby businesses with unsold produce. They then purchase a ‘Magic Bag’, collect it at an allotted time and enjoy it.
