‘Bring Your Dog to Work’ day, but what about the other 261 working days of the year?

Recent reports from The Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association, revealed that a total of 3.2 million households in the UK have acquired a pet since the start of the pandemic, meaning that the country now has 17 million pet-owning homes. The research reported that the under-35s account for 59% of new pet owners, and over one third (35%) of young adults (age 24-35) have already embarked on lives as new pet owners – or are planning to add a pet to their families.

Reflecting these findings, UK online marketplace, OnBuy, conducted research into the increase of dog supplies over the last six months and the results suggested that there has been a whopping 154% average rise in sales in their most popular dog categories, such as feeding and watering, brushes and combs and training and behaviour products.

Clearly, the pandemic has proven to be a very popular time to purchase a new fury friend, but what will the return to the office mean for these fluff balls? The humans they got used to having around all the time—truly all the time in some cases—will soon have places to be.

Will the UK see a huge rise in doggy day care services? Will there be a bigger demand for home working roles due to new canine commitments? Or will more UK business’s allow dogs into the office, resulting in ‘Bring Your Dog to Work’ day becoming an everyday event?

If the latter, then make sure to kit out your pooch with all his/her office essentials…
