Britain’s sweethearts Ekin-Su and Davide ‘Saved by the Search’ in the sweetest of Google challenges

In the latest episode of its Saved by the Search YouTube series, Google UK challenges Love Island’s “Queen of Pancakes” Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and her Tiramisu-making beau Davide Sanclimenti to a head-to-head bake-off challenge, with a twist.

The couple, who fell in love in this year’s series and were crowned champions after winning the hearts of the nation, were often found in the kitchen making carbonara together. In their latest challenge, Ekin-Su and Davide were asked to put their dessert-making skills (along with each other’s patience) to the test by recreating the most popular Italian and Turkish desserts.

The twist, familiar to fans of the Saved by the Search series, is that neither Ekin-Su nor Davide knew what the challenge was prior to arriving on set. The series encourages celebrities to step out of their comfort zone and try something fun and unexpected, using a limited number of Google Searches to guide them through the challenge.

Ekin-Su baked some cannoli for her Italian boyfriend, while Davide made his Turkish sweetheart a pistachio-filled baklava which, thanks to one of their Google searches, we now know is an aphrodisiac.

How did they do? How competitive did things get? And were they saved by searching on Google? Those searching for the answers to these questions must tune in to find out. Ekin-Su and Davide’s Saved by the Search episode is out today at 5pm BST on the Google UK YouTube channel, and can also be found on the Google UK Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Ekin-Su and Davide aren’t the first celebrities to take part in the Saved by the Search series. Google UK have previously challenged the likes of Too Hot to Handle’s Cam & Em, as well as YouTube icons Yung Filly, Chunkz, Rose & Rosie, Joe Sugg, Munya Chawawa & comedian Suzi Ruffell. The YouTube playlist for the series can be viewed.

The episode, filmed in London earlier this month, is part of an ongoing series produced by Google UK in partnership with its creative social media agency Jellyfish. Talent secured by global entertainment marketing agency, Attachment.
