British Rum brand, Tidal Rum announces the launch of Seedrs Fundraising Campaign

Tidal Rum has today announced the launch of a Seedrs crowdfunding campaign in a bid to raise over £150k, to expand distribution in pubs, bars and restaurants across the UK.

Since its launch in the summer of 2019, Tidal Rum has dominated the UK rum sector and, in two short years, has already secured on-trade distribution via a number of premium wholesalers including Matthew Clark ext., Amathus Drinks, Enotria & Coe and Speciality Drinks. The brand has also secured listings in key on-trade accounts across the UK such as Daylesford, Annabels, Groucho Club, Maison Francois, Stanley’s Chelsea and the London Shell Co.

The crowdfunding raise will see funds being put towards key business objectives including sales, marketing and social media presence in a bid to own the premium mixed rum space and introduce new consumers in the UK and beyond to the Tidal experience, in turn expanding the category.

The Rum sector is growing rapidly, with October 2020 seeing the WSTA crown rum as the “drink of lockdown” with the spirit enjoying the biggest growth across all

spirits during the period. In the three months from April to June 2020, 38% more rum was sold than in the same period in 2019, equating to an extra 1.3 million bottles sold, demonstrating huge consumer interest for the spirit.

Co-founders Harry Couthard and Ben Clyde-Smith comment ‘This is a hugely exciting time for the brand and an opportunity for consumers to be a part of our journey and grow with us. We have created a completely unique spirit that has a distinctive coastal identity and reflects the tidal landscape across Jersey and the British Isles, bringing with it a sense of adventure that should be explored by all. We’re now ready to grow even bigger and are very much looking forward to investors joining us and being a part of the huge ambitions we have for Tidal Rum.’

Born in the Caribbean, Tidal Rum is slowly aged in oak casks and infused with rare marine botanicals sustainably foraged and only found at the lowest tides. Tidal gets its rich golden smoothness from a careful blend of four cask-aged rums from Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados and the Dominican Republic. The unique tasting notes come from an infusion of lightly oak smoked Pepper Dulse, a rare botanical known as ‘the truffle of the sea’ found only at the lowest tides in Jersey and prized for its intense marine truffle flavour, giving Tidal Rum it’s unique ocean salted caramel flavour. Tidal Rum takes pride in sustainably using botanicals that thrive on the tidal coastline of Jersey in order to celebrate rum in an innovative way.
