British Trade Association offers advice for Hot Tub Brits about to take the plunge

Chris Hayes was invited to participate in the two-part series, Hot Tub Brits, by the producers (Definitely Productions) to provide expert commentary for the programme, which aired on Channel 5 on Sunday 1st and 8th August at 9pm.

The series “takes a peek under the cover of Britain’s outdoor obsession, exploring the remarkable rise of hot tubs”. “Plunging into the world of hot tubs all around the UK, meeting the quirky, characterful and bubbly Brits who build, buy, sell, and soak in this must-have item”. From a vicar who likes to partake in nibbles and wine in his tub, a couple from Durham who take a ‘wet test’ to celebrities such as Laura Hamilton, Aldo Zilli and Caprice Bourret, all transforming their homes into the perfect staycation location for the price of a luxury holiday, providing the everydaycation lifestyle, available 365 days a year.

The program producers contacted BISHTA after the association featured in the press and media earlier this year, commenting on the rise in demand for hot tub ownership and how the industry has expanded, with many of their members continuing to report very strong sales growth.

Believe it or not, BISHTA says that BREXIT and COVID-19 have positively affected the hot tub industry. People are investing more in their home lifestyles, creating beautiful gardens and staycation style improvements so that spending time in their gardens becomes an #everydaycation experience.

BISHTA reports a surge in demand for hard shell acrylic hot tubs throughout 2020, with some of its members experiencing a 400% increase in sales. Lockdown led to searches for hot tubs in 2020, increasing by over 650%[1] as we looked for fun ways to fill our time at home and find alternatives to the usual family summer holiday. And due to some travel restrictions still being in place in the UK, the surge for home hot tubs is continuing in 2021.
