Building a more sustainable Businesses Environment – New international sustainability summit launches in Ireland
The Business Show has launched a first of its kind international Sustainability Summit in Ireland today. The strategic initiative, which takes place virtually on 22nd September, is designed to be the first in an annual series of events aimed at bringing together the corporate, academic, non-profit and activist worlds to look at sustainability on a global scale. The Irish postal service An Post has been named a founding partner of the Sustainability Summit with additional partners due to be announced in the coming weeks.
The director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies Dr. Gavin Schmidt has been announced as a keynote speaker at the inaugural Sustainability Summit, and will be joined on the day by some of the world’s leading business and environmental experts to discuss the state of play in the world’s fight against climate change and other sustainability trends. Dr. Schmidt, who conducts research into the use of climate modelling as a way of understanding the history of global warming was recently named NASA’s Senior Climate Advisor, a role created under President Biden’s plan to deliver an all-agency effort to combat the climate emergency. Former Irish President and founder of the Foundation for Climate Justice, Mary Robinson, has also been named alongside Dr. Schmidt as a headline speaker at the summit.

In a series of keynote speeches and discussions to debate a wide variety of topics centered around helping international business leaders achieve the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the Sustainability Summit, brings together leaders, policy makers and key sustainability experts.
The free-to-attend, virtual event, will host talks and panel discussions centred around the theme of sustainability in business, with the aim to educate business leaders and the community on how to apply viable solutions for the coming decade while addressing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and how to Action the Change.
